Who wrote the book?
This book was written according to a well-known film "Saving private Ryan", which was screened by Steven Spilberg. It is adapted from novel by Max Allan,Collins and based on the screenplay by Robert Rodat. Max Allan Colins has written thrillers, film reviews, short fiction, songs and other novels from movies and TV films. Including In the line of fire, Waterword or Air force one. Collins has also written, directed and produced independent films.
What lesson or message does the story have for us?
This book left on me a very strong impression. I think this book wants to say to readers to appreciate human lives and shows terrible things which happens in every war such as distress of innocent people and cruelty of war. It is a strange story, which doesn't keep you calm and if do you read them, nothing breaks you away.
Describe the main character in the story.

captain John Miller, He is thirty-eight years old. he is from Addley in Pennsylvania, he has got family - two small boys and a beautiful wife. Captain is about 180 cm tall, a good looking person. His profession is a teacher of civics. His personality is good nature, foresight, experience of battle, but it isn't enough for completing this mission because you need a bit of luck, without which he can't be a hero. John is a good captain of his men and his soldiers believe him and his mandate. He hasn't got easy command but he has to discharge that. At the and of story John Miller will die.
What is story about?
The story starts on 6. June 1998 in a military graveyard. An old man with his family goes across a cemetery when he suddenly falls on his knees before one of thousand white crosses. Old man starts to retrospect.The story is transferred to Normandy in 1944 of June, where about four thousand Americans soldiers try to land out of the boats to the beach, where are waiting Germans with their guns, mortars and machine-guns. Americans soldiers have to capture a fortress, it isn't a easy command . After few hours they do it with causalities. The story is transferred to the headquarters in Pentagon, where officers are speaking about dead soldiers.They give a command to find the fourth son of Margaret Rayen. Three of her sons are dead and the fourth is missing, he is somewhere in Normandy. Captain Miller has to find her youngest one and sole son. John Miller doesn't like this idea, but he has to go with his seven men, who he chose, to find one soldier in the middle of the war. His men are: sergeant Horvat (driver), corporal Upham ( he speaks French ), the medic Wade, private Reibn Carparzo, Jackson ( sniper ) and Mellish. During their adventure they will meet with relics of soldiers of their military, German soldiers will war with them, some of them will die or be wounded, till they will find private Rayen near Ramalle village, but it isn't all. Rayen's company have to guard the bridge against Germans. They will get to battle with them. American company isn't as strong and powerful as German. Germans have tanks, panzers and some fighter planes. But in the last moments of battle, when everything indicates, that Americans haven't got any chance, reinforcement come, fighter planes and ground army, and beat Germans. Miller is shot to his breasts and after few minutes he dies.Again the story moves back to military Graveyard in 1998 in June. The old man, who was sitting in front of a white cross, is private James Francis Ryan. He sits on the ground and cries. It is a very emotional moment of the book. In few moments he leaves the cemetery with his family full of memories.
What have you found especially interesting about the book?
I think that it was credibility, which pull you in a story. Story, where aren't indigence of action, suspension and may by it is a little bit eye-opening story.
Describe minor character, what happens to him or her in the story?
Another interesting person is private Anthony Carparzo. He is twenty-two years old, he comes from Chicago in Illinois. Private is a little bit nervous and he suffers from seasickness. Many times he helps with his knowledge to reach an aim. Anthony is a clever young man about 175 cm tall with brown hair and usually wears glasses. Sometimes he invents something new, customary-build. he doesn't like war, but private wants to help to beat Germans. Anthony Carparzo will survive this war and he will die as an old man in his native land.
Describe the setting or background of the story.
The story proceeds in Second World War, when nothing is easy to do and no one has compassion with you. Less so, when you are enemy and even, when you are in the middle of battleground. It isn't so easy to find one man in Second World War, is it?
I recommend to people, who can't see movie, to read this interesting book.
